Default Advice? for Villainy of Galrath (Hard Mode)?

Can you give me any advice for this infuriating Quest? Team composition? Buillds? Consumables? Positions? Strategies?

The bandits just keep regenerating no matter *what * I do. Pulling less than a group is almost impossible (and they are a group of 30's with seemingly infinite health.)

The Youtubes are all for NM and are rather ... um ... un-serious. I found one excellent Rant on the forums on gwonline.net, but it was just a wonderful rant about how impossible this Quest seems.

If you have some solid advice or site refs? I would surely appreciate hearing from you!

This Quest should have been alternatively named: The Villainy of Anet ....

I' not sure whether my team build works for the quest, but you can check out my Power Rangers thread in the Heroes & AI section of the forum. I'll be giving it a try this weekend. Also, what is your profession, since most team builds are build around you.

Cheers,
Xander

I haven't done it but since you mentioned YouTube but not wiki have you tried the suggestions on wiki for HM?

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_V...28Hard_mode%29

Some of the stuff wiki says is:

It is possible to engage the bandits from the foot of the cliff, where the path emerges from the northern valley. The main damage-dealers are melee assassins, so this can trim their numbers down with less risk to your party. You can also lure them into Verata's cultists, who are occupying the lower slopes of the hill; the ensuing fight will usually see the cultists quickly defeated, saving you some work in clearing the way to Galrath.

Skill recommendations

Bring Frozen Soil to counter the resurrection skills of the bandits.
Spiteful Spirit works well as the bandits tend to clump on the edge of the hill.
Galrath's Hundred Blades is vulnerable to Pain Inverter.
Bring something to counter the powerful bandit healers, e.g. shutdown skills such as Panic, anti-healing such as Lingering Curse, or be able to spike.
Mirror of Disenchantment will remove Healer's Boon from the monks.

I have been going through Tyria with the build on this thread doing the HM and vanquishing as well. I vanquished Kessex Peak while Villiany was active: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/z...t10534718.html

The only difference is that I am an ele and I played as a Signet of Spirits spirit spammer and I added a UA monk hero.

Build Codes :

I believe the op is asking about Villainy of Galrath (hard mode) which is a different quest than Villainy of Galrath.

Just in case their is any confusion.

Villainy of Galrath: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Villainy_of_Galrath

Villainy of Galrath (hard mode): http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_V...th_(Hard_mode)

The latter has a prerequisite of the former and is supposedly much harder.

Thank you all for your responses. Surge is quite right ... I am talking about Villainy Hard Mode --- a different animal than NM (which I have done w/no problemo.) I am an SoS rit mainly. Have read ALL of wiki and looked at Youtube, and the Rant on GWonline.net was the most helpful, so far. The Rant recommends a spirit line with a couple Mes killers and says, *eventually* you can wear down the groups of 30. THIRTY! I gave this quest a miss long ago (just too hard for the reward [other than ego.]) As it is not required for anything [other than the aforementioned ego,] might give it a miss now, too.

If any of you have a sudden insight tho, I'd love to hear about it. The 45 minute trip just to get to Wizard's Fief to test any new build/team etc is frustrating enough to make me want to recruit Rotscale and burn the devs who made this Quest.

Thanks for your help and time. Live long, and prosper!

SoS bars don't benefit a lot from being run on human bars. Perhaps (assuming you want to keep one - they seemed to be the most effective strategy listed in that thread) delegate it to a hero and find something else to run that makes better use of your capabilities. I'd be tempted to try a Spirits Strength Axe bar so you can run Save Yourselves. The melee presence will mean you get a ton out of Shatter Hex, even if you're not able to do that much directly. Rend Enchantments will be a pain though. Haven't done this in ages, so I may be misremembering some key points.

I did it a few times - mostly along with heros. Pulling and separate a group IS the key for me. I lay a line of sprits and lure groups of bandits one after the other. The white line shows the way they should come. It need a few approaches to get 1 or mostly 2 groups at a time, which are easy to handle. Always call on one target. Bringing a hero with frozen soil will speed things up of course, but i prefer brute force . The first screen shows the builds. (used 2 honeycombs as consumable)

If you still need help I might assist you in game.

I just completed it in 27mins. I just ran in and dps'ed the hell out of them and made it, didn't wipe or pull. I also did not use cons or pcons.
